HAND CRAFTED, GAGAKU DOUBLE-REED MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

This hichiriki is crafted from bamboo imported from Japan. The body of this instrument was carefully shaped, wrapped in cherry wood and bound with American-style rattan. The bore and rattan is finished with tinted lacquer. The hichiriki's shita (reed) has also been imported from Japan after its creation.

The hichiriki has been tuned, after careful bore treatments similar to the traditional methods of tuning these instruments, similar to the "spot-tuning" done with the best-made shakuhachi.
