The original soundtrack to your bonsai’s unique world

The aesthetics of the art of bonsai and shakuhachi music, steeped in the culture of Japan, share many fundamental aspects.  For me, it is a reciprocal relationship. The movement of the trunk, the form supported by deliberately positioned branches, and particularly a bonsai’s character, are all musical. 

How it works:

You send pictures of your bonsai (best possible from all sides) and I will compose an original piece on shakuhachi for you and your bonsai, record it, and send you the recording, and scores.  Recordings are of professional quality.  Scores are hand-written on rice paper.

Composition costs:

1-20 minutes of music    =             $10.00 per minute of music (ex. 2 minutes = $20.00)

20+ minutes of music      =             $400 flat rate, plus $5.00 per minute of music

60+ minutes of music      =             $1,000 flat rate, plus $2.00 per minute of music

 Recording costs by format:

   Mp3 File                      =             $1.00 per minute of music

   Wave File                    =             $5.00 per minute of music

    CDr (produced)        =             $100.00 Flat Rate

 Cost for scores (Hand-brushed Japanese Kinko-ryu notation):

                Digital Copy         =             $10.00

Licensing Information:

Your purchase automatically comes with limited rights to the work - You have the right to use as you see fit the particular recording issued to you by your purchase for your own personal use: Free with purchase

Purchase partial rights (Recordings completed for you are your own property, though the composition, and any further recordings or renderings from it, remain the right of the creator): $50.00 (add rights to the sheet music for $50.00           

Purchase all rights (Composition, score, recordings – everything comes to you and is your to keep)          $100 for each minute of music.
